PAINTS Project Application Form

Please remember:

  • The project teacher MUST be the one to fill out this application.
  • You need to talk to your artist about the project BEFORE you apply.
  • A project will usually involve one or possibly two groups of students generally.  A group may be as small as a half dozen or as large as a single class (max 28)

2. Project Description - This section must be filled out by the artist, or in consultation with the artist.  You might be able to ask them to email you a description that you can cut and paste into this form, or just be sure to discuss the project idea with them before applying.

Please let us know the basic timeframe for the workshop, by day, class period, or hour. Whatever makes sense for your project. Please include any pre-workshop preparation - i.e. gathering or purchasing materials, preparing the classroom, having students research or learn about a subject area or artistic discipline, etc.

    3. Art Supply Request
    Schools are expected to provide the majority of the supplies needed for the project.

    PAINTS is able to provide a small amount of funds to offset any special materials requirement. Receipts for supplies must be submitted at the close of the project. And a payment will be mailed to the school. The request must be approved as part of the application.

    4. Travel
    Up to 50km is automatically approved for any project. If your artist will be traveling more that that over the course of your PAINTS project, please specify here how many kilometres travel you anticipate the artists traveling in total. (i.e. if it is 4 trips of 30km, please put in 120.   This request will need to be approved by the PAINTS committee.

    5. PAINTS Agreement
    • PAINTS Artists are not responsible for discipline problems or any security issues. A teacher must remain present in the classroom at all times.
    • Prior to the first date of the project, the teacher MUST email or call the PAINTS co-ordinator to confirm the details (dates, times, etc) of the project.
    • The school is responsible for the purchase of materials - if the artist purchases them, the school must either advance the monies or the artist must be reimbursed on the first day of the workshop.
    • Evaluations by the teacher will be sent to VANS via email within 2 days of the project's completion.
    • Prior to the workshop day, the teacher and artist must discuss material and room requirements.
    • Teachers must prepare students for the workshop. (That may mean simply discussing it, or doing research , bringing in materials, etc.)
    • The project artist, teacher and principal all agree to fulfill this PAINTS project if it is approved.

    6. Payment
    Cost of the artists' fees is divided 50/50 between PAINTS and the school. The school portion of the fees must be received or postmarked by the deadline date in order to process the application. Payments are held in trust until the PAINTS Committee reviews applications. If your project is not successful, the payment will be returned to you as soon as the results are released.
